One hundred linemen from Eastern Visayas are set to arrive in the Bicol Region today, November 4, to help repair damaged power lines in the area which was destroyed by Super Typoon Rolly.
Meanwhile, linemen from the Federation of Rural Electric Cooperatives in Region 8 (FRECOR-8) have already left for Bicol. These include DORELCO, LEYECO II, LEYECO III, LEYECO IV, LEYECO V, SOLECO, BILECO, ESAMELCO, NORSAMELCO, SAMELCO I and SAMELCO II.
Upon arrival in Bicol, FRECOR-8 personnel did not waste time as they immediately started working since it will take two weeks to restore the full power capacity in the said region.
Over the past two days, the linemen have been oriented towards their obligations as well as following thr health protocols in Bicol. Once there, they will still undergo Anti-Gen Testing.
In addition to the personnel, FRECOR-8 brought along heavy equipment such as boom trucks and crews to provide assistance to those affected by the typhoon.
According to reports after the typhoon, more than 90 percent of Bicol's power posts fell.
This FRECOR-8 plan is in return for the sincere assistance of the Electric Cooperatives in Bicol in restoring power to the Eastern Visayas after Typhoon Yolanda devastated the region in 2013. iTacloban.com
