PH's COVID-19 cases, set to reach 400,000 but recovery rate at 91%, says DOH



PHILIPPINES On Sunday, Nov. 09, DOH posted 2,443 new confirmed COVID cases bringing the total number to 396,395. Despite that, the country posted 11,430 new recoveries, raising the total number of survivors to 361,638 — making the recovery rate at 91%.


These figures also bring the total number of active cases to 27,218 and the death toll to 7,539.


Of the active cases, about 82 percent are mild, 9.6 percent are asymptomatic, 3.1 percent are severe, and 5.4 percent are in critical condition.


Among the laboratory results sent, Rizal topped the list of places with the most number of newly-confirmed cases at 138; followed by the city of Manila with 131, Benguet with 130, Batangas with 113, and Bulacan with 112 infections.


A DOH data on Nov. 7 showed that 2,079 or 9.4 percent of 22,104 who were tested turned out positive for Covid-19.


Of the newly announced deaths, 39 happened this month, 12 in October, two in September, and one in August. 


“Eight duplicates were removed from the total case count. Of these, three were recovered cases. Moreover, five cases previously tagged as recovered were reclassified as deaths,” DOH said.
