TACLOBAN CITY — Four (4) more patients in Region 8-Eastern Visayas die from coronavirus disease (COVID-19), bringing the total deaths in the region to one-hundred seven (107).
The three individuals lost their lives on December 12, while the other one died on December 10, according to the Department of Health (DOH).
On December 12, Northern Samar recorded two new deaths which involve two men, a 67-year-old and a 58-year-old from the municipalities of San Roque and San Vicente respectively.
The whole province of Northern Samar currently has 18 recorded deaths due to COVID-19.
Furthermore, in Ormoc City, two new deaths due to COVID-19 happened which involve a 78-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man.
Ormoc City Mayor Richard Gomez appealed to the public to strictly follow all the health protocols such as wearing of PPEs (face mask, face shield, etc.) and practicing social distancing.
On the other hand, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez dismissed rumors and reports of a hard lockdown in the city.
“The city of Tacloban will not be on a lockdown this December. We will just be more strict in our protocols, on the returning residents,” Romualdez said in a video.
“Let’s just be careful. Let’s exercise social distancing and wear a mask,” he added.
As of Tuesday, December 15, Eastern Visayas has a total of 9,571 COVID-19 cases. iTacloban
