TACLOBAN CITY — A resident of Barangay 62-A, Tacloban City, was the first registrant during the second step for the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys), or National Identity Card, registration process at Tacloban Astrodome on Wednesday, February 24.

Richard Cahig, 54, was among the applicants who have already taken the first step, of the pre-registration process last year.

PhilSys Step 2 Registration is the validation of supporting documents and capturing of biometric information at registration centers. More than 8.4 million Filipinos already completed the Step 1 Registration process as of December 9, 2020.

Step 2 Registration shall be followed by the third and final step of the PhilSys registration, which is the issuance of the PhilSys Number (PSN), and the actual PhilID, according to Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).

The PSN is a randomly generated number and it will serve as a permanent identification number for every registrant used for digital transactions. PSA has partnered with the national postal corporation, PHLPost, for the delivery of the PSN and PhilID to successful registrants. Tacloban News Update (with reports from Tacloban - CIO)
