Mangonbangon Bridge in Tacloban closes due to 8-month reconstruction

TACLOBAN CITY - Motorists in Tacloban City should take alternative routes if they want to pass Naga-Naga - Anibong Road as Mangonbangon Bridge I will be temporarily closed for its eight-month reconstruction, according to a news report dated March 9.

In a statement, the Department of Public Works and Highways Region VIII (DPWH-8) said the bridge will be temporarily closed due to the implementation of replacement of permanent weak bridges undertaken by their respective office.


DPWH-8 advised the motorist to take an alternate route via Rizal Avenida extension road.


Meanwhile, the Traffic Operations Management Enforcement and Control Office (TOMECO) of Tacloban LGU clarified that they have issued a notice to the public that the Mangonbangon Bridge in will be under construction after complaints from individuals who didn't know about the road closure.


According to Ronnie Cornico, Head of TOMECO, last week they issued a notice that the road will be temporarily closed for the construction of the bridge.

He added that apart from public advisories, they put up signages so that the general public is informed. In addition, the city's newly paved bypass road will be opened to ease the traffic while the Mangonbangon bridge is being repaired. — Tacloban News Update
