QUEZON CITY (PR) — The Department of Information and Communications Technology Visayas Cluster 2 (VC2) – Region 8 conducted various capacity-building activities for the residents of the Municipality of Saint Bernard, Southern Leyte.
“We shall continually support local talents through our capacity-building and upskilling programs, as well as students and job seekers alike to learn new skills and acquire successful careers in the digital economy,” DICT Secretary Gregorio “Gringo” B. Honasan said.
“We hope to further enable people to engage in productive work from the comfort of their homes, allowing them to transcend the physical boundaries caused by the pandemic,” he added.
VC2 conducted a digitaljobsPH screening that was held in Saint Bernard. Sixty-three (63) residents who wanted to start their online freelancing career took up the examination and interview.
digitaljobsPH provides technical training to develop the digital skills of Filipinos in the countryside. The program aims to prosper ICT-enabled livelihood opportunities for increased participation in the digital economy.
Twenty-five (25) scholars will also be chosen to join the free Social Media Marketing and Advertising Course that will last for more than 2 months.
The cluster also administered a free pre-assessment ICT Proficiency Diagnostic Exam to sixty-three (63) ICT Professionals and IT graduating students from Saint Bernard and neighboring towns.
Those who will pass the written assessment will be endorsed for a 6-hour hands-on certification, which upon passing will entitle one to a proficiency certificate from the Certification, Competency, and Courseware Development Division (C3D2) of the DICT.
The certificate is one of the requirements in obtaining an Electronic Data Processing Specialist Eligibility. (DICT/PRESS RELEASE)
