Eastern Visayas recorded 170 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths and 268 new recoveries

 

Eastern Visayas recorded 170 new COVID-19 cases, 4 deaths, and 268 new recoveries today, June 12, 2021.

TACLOBAN CITY — As of 11 AM today, June 12, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 23,919, total recoveries at 21,438 (89.63%), and total deaths at 341 (1.43%). This brings the total active cases to 2,142 (8.96%). 

A total of 179 new cases were recorded today out of the 1,000 laboratory samples tested in four (4) COVID-19 laboratories.  Of these, 177 were tested in the three COVID-19 laboratories in the region -  the EVRMC, the OMDC, and the DWHVL.  While two (2) cases were reported by the Philippine Red Cross Cebu Molecular Laboratory in Cebu City. The total number of new cases represents a 17.90% positivity rate. 

The EVRCTC has released a total of 542 laboratory results. Of these, 464 are negative and 78 are positive (with 77 new cases and 1 re-infection) for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 327 laboratory results. Of these, 238 are negative and 89 are positive (with 73 new cases and 16 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

Whereas, the OMDC has released a total of 53 laboratory samples.  Of these, 26 are negative and 27 are positive with COVID-19.

Likewise, the Philippine Red Cross Cebu Molecular Laboratory has released a total of 78 laboratory samples from Eastern Visayas. Of these, 76 are negative and 2 are positive for COVID-19.

The 179 new confirmed cases are  from the following provinces/cities/municipalities:

Meanwhile the details of the new deaths are the following:

• EV-21768– a 74-year old female from Ormoc City who died on June 10, 2021;
• EV-21146 – a 41-year old female from Ormoc City who died on June 10, 2021;
• EV-22922 -  a 58-year old male from Tanauan, Leyte who died on June 9, 2021, and;
• EV-22216 – a 69-year old female from Tacloban City who died on June 10, 2021. 

Also, there were eight ( 8 ) cases that were tagged as new cases, but upon verification, were found out to be re-swabs.  Hence, the adjustment of the number of total cases.
