(Updated 01/10/2022) Since the pandemic started, several quick response (QR) code system has been established by local government units (LGUs), government institutions and private entities to provide an accessible contact tracing network.
In public health, contact tracing is the process of identifying persons who may have come into contact with an infected person and subsequent collection of further information about these contacts. (Wikipedia)
In National Capital Region (NCR) or Metro Manila alone, almost all the 16 cities had their own unique QR code systems when the pandemic started. Meanwhile, in other regions like Eastern Visayas, several cities, towns, and provinces also use different QR portals such as the Tacloban Safe City, Baybay BC Pass, Secure Biliran, and ARK Maasin City.
This is why the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) asked local government units (LGUs) to use the "StaySafe.Ph" app as the official COVID-19 contact tracing app and integrate their current QR code networks with it. It will also be a way for the Philippines to have a unified QR Code system once LGUs merge their data with StaySafe.Ph.
Meanwhile, all provinces require an S-PaSS account to enter their premises if a person will travel via bus. The S-PaSS portal also provides a unique QR code that travelers can use upon traveling either inter-regional or inter-provincial, together with a travel pass. [Know the step-by-step guide here: How to Create and Register an S-PaSS Account Online.]
