TACLOBAN CITY — Police Brig. Gen. Rommel Bernardo Abrea Cabagnot formally assumed his post as the newly-installed Regional Director of Police Regional Office 8 on Wednesday, August 4.
He replaced Police Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Faustino De Jesus retired after 34 years of honorable and invaluable service to the Philippine National Police.
PBGen Cabagnot is an alumnus of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA), “Tagapagkalinga" Class of 1991.
Following the lead of PNP Chief Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar, PBGen and Regional Director Cabagnot emphasized his thrusts for the personnel of Eastern Visayas: "Do your job and do it properly." Guided by the principle of honest and genuine public service, he committed to continue the programs of PBGen. Ronaldo F. De Jesus.
He likewise assured that under his leadership, there would be no new and impossible directives.
"I will also personally assess the operational readiness of our men on the ground. I am calling to our men to just do your mandate with utmost dedication. My strong desire to go against the scalawags and erring police personnel. Ayoko nang nangungutong, sangkot sa iligal na droga, gumagamit man, nagbebenta o pomoprotekta. I will hunt you down," RD Cabagnot said.
Cabagnot was then the Chief Regional Staff of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO). He also served as the PNP Provincial Director in Samar in 2015.
In a media release, the Regional Director asked for prayers, full support, and cooperation of the Waraynon Warriors under his new command. He wants to implement these with resolve and achieve the "best of the best" in serving the public. —Tacloban News Update (Source: Tacloban PNP/PIA)
