PALO, LEYTE — Authorities of Police Regional Office 8 under the leadership of PBGen. Rommel Bernardo A. Cabagnot, Regional Director, arrested two (2) Most Wanted Persons (Municipal Level) who were also members of the Communist-Terrorist Group (CTG) at Brgy. General Malvar, Catarman, Northern Samar on August 14, 2021, at 8:40 AM and 9:40 AM, respectively.
The suspects were identified as Nelcar Lambert Marino, 54 years old, single, and farmer, and Ronald Carias Lovino, 53 years old, married and farmer; both are residents of said place.
Marino was arrested under a Warrant of Arrest (WOA), dated December 29, 2010, for Attempted Murder, under CC No. C-4901 issued by Hon. Norma Megenio-Cardenas, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, 8th Judicial Region, Br. 19, Catarman, N/Samar, with a recommended bail bond of Php 120,000.00 while Lovino was arrested under a WOA, dated August 4, 2014, for Frustrated Murder, under CC No. C-3827 issued by Hon. Alma Consuelo B Esidera, Presiding Judge, Regional Trial Court, 8th Judicial Region, Br. 20, Catarman, N/Samar, with a recommended bail bond Php 200, 000, 00.
Elements of Catarman Municipal Police Station led by PMaj. Wilfredo B. Jimenez Jr., Acting Chief of Police, and the personnel from Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) under the supervision of PMaj. Deogracias P. Diaz III, personnel from 1st Northern Samar Provincial Mobile Force Company under the supervision of PMaj. Edwin M. Oloaan and personnel from 43rd Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army carried out the two operations.
Accused were brought to Catarman MPS for documentation before turn-over to the court of origin.
“With the insurgency that this Region is experiencing, especially in that province of Northern Samar, it is such a notable accomplishment to have arrested some members of the CTG also that they are in the list for Most Wanted Persons. I commend the operatives for a job well done,” RD Cabagnot said.
