TACLOBAN CITY — The Department of Education (DepEd) announced on Tuesday, September 21, that the enrollment period for School Year 2021-2022 will be extended until September 30.
DepEd Order No. 3 s. 2021 stated that all public and private schools must accept students and learners until the end of September.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones reported that the number of enrollees has increased from 26 million last year to 28 million this year. Those who are enrolled in the alternative learning system program are not included in this figure.
"We expect na tataas pa itong numerong ito by September 30. By that time tapos na iyong deadline sa enrollment tataas pa ang mga numero [We expect this number to increase by September 30. By the time the enrollment deadline is over, the numbers will increase]." Secretary Briones Secretary Briones made the statement on Monday, September 20 during a briefing.
Despite the difficulties encountered during COVID-19, the education secretary claimed that enrolment had increased to 107.6 percent.
