The said projects all started in the months of June and July with a combined budget of Php 48.6-million sourced from the General Appropriations Act of 2021.
The Justice Romualdez St. drainage project includes the construction of 672 lineal meters drainage and 117.5 lineal meters drainage outfall while the project along Burgos St. has 854.40 lineal meters reinforced concrete box culvert and 166.4 lineal meter outfall currently with 50% and 55% accomplishment, respectively.
Moreover, drainage construction along Daang Maharlika Road already completed 75% of construction works that involve 200 lineal meters right side drainage, 50 lineal meters left side drainage, and 1,073.15 square meters of concrete pavement.
Improvement of drainages especially in flood-prone areas is regarded as a priority for it can be traced as the main cause of road damage that may impede the serviceability of road networks. Moreover, in case of heavy rainfall lack of proper drainage may cause significant flooding and water ponding that may cause traffic and health risks.
Hence, the objective of the project is to prevent excess water from damming up and guide its flow to the designated outfall thus reducing flood occurrence and water ponding along the area.
“We ask for the patience and cooperation of everyone as we work our ways in further improving the city’s drainage system and hopefully giving a long-term solution to flooding,” a message by ADE Yuse to all motorists and residents. (DPWH/TCDEO/APLA/PRESS RELEASE)
