TACLOBAN CITY — Two fishermen died, and two were wounded due to illegal dynamite fishing near the coastline of Brgy. Malayog, Tinambacan District, Calbayog City on Saturday night (September 18).
According to a report by Manila Bulletin, Cristobal Rosalado, 50, and Jamer Sigue, 32, were identified as victims, while the wounded were Daryl Tahos, 27, and Rogelio Diaz Jr., 24.
The two wounded were sent to a hospital for immediate treatment.
The initial investigation revealed that the victims were reportedly engaged in illegal dynamite fishing, also known as ‘badil' in the local dialect.
Rosalado lit the makeshift explosive, which burst on his hand while he was holding it.
This resulted in the immediate death of the two victims as well as their injuries.
Rosalado's corpse has not been found yet, and the authorities are still continuing their search operations. —Tacloban News Update (Source: Manila Bulletin)
