The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) – allows passage on one lane of Mangonbangon Bridge along Naga-Naga Anibong Road for single motorcycles and private or commercial tricycles effective November 22, 2021.
Upon assumption of office, DE Acosta has directed the project’s contractor to fast track the completion of the project to ease traffic as a heavy influx of motorists is anticipated this holiday season.
“We intended to operationalize at least one lane of the said bridge to allow smooth flow and minimize traffic as we expect a large number of motorists and tourists to enter the city. Also, to allow easy passage of goods and people to speed up and mobilize economic activities,” said DE Acosta.
The Mangonbangon Bridge has been temporarily closed since March of this year due to the ongoing implementation of the project that includes upgrading the bridge from two (2) lanes to four (4) lanes having a total cost of Php 38-million. Given favorable weather, the bridge is scheduled to be fully operational on November 29, 2021. (DPWH-TCDEO/PRESS RELEASE)
