TACLOBAN CITY — To celebrate Christmas, the Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office No. 8 distributed new pedicab units worth P391,000 to 17 informal sector workers in Tacloban City through its North Leyte Field Office.
Dennis Santiago, a 59-year-old beneficiary, expressed his gratitude to the Department of Labor and Employment for the assistance he had received.
"I am extremely grateful to the Department of Labor for granting our Christmas wish," said Santiago. According to him, the pedicabs will undoubtedly increase their earnings and enable them to meet the needs of their families.

Director Henry John S. Jalbuena addressed the beneficiaries during the simple turnover program held at the DOLE-8 grounds. He expressed delight in their new pedicabs and wished them continued success. He said, "We at DOLE are happy that we are able to grant these livelihood projects at such a time as this."
He also reminded the recipients that they should take good care of the pedicabs, which are intended to supplement their current income. The office's DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP) funds were used to cover the costs of the aforementioned livelihood assistance. —Tacloban News Update (Source: DOLE-RO8)
