TACLOBAN CITY – Instead of organizing a Christmas Party, the employees of NHA Regional Office 08 organized a relief operation for the victims of Typhoon Odette in Southern Leyte, using their personal food allowances for the greater good.
On January 20, 2022, a delegation of selected NHA Region VIII employees traveled to Liloan, Southern Leyte, to assist victims of Typhoon Odette in Barangay Cagbungalon, Liloan, Southern Leyte.
Ninety-seven (97) relief packs were distributed to families in the said barangay whose homes were completely destroyed by the said Typhoon, according to a report submitted by the Local Government Unit (LGU) Liloan, Southern Leyte.
Each pack includes ten kilograms of rice, six cans of various goods, instant noodles, coffee, hygiene kits, laundry essentials, and COVID-19 kits. Additionally, the LGU-Liloan, Southern Leyte, represented by the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer, distributed food packs to victims/families whose homes were partially destroyed by the Typhoon.

The total cost of the released packs was approximately Php140,000.00, which included food allowances for employees' Christmas parties and some personal contributions from NHA officials.
NHA Regional Manager Engr. Constancio G. Antiniero led the relief operation alongside Leyte 1 District Officer-in-Charge Engr. Silverio “Ohliver Ceasar Ian” T. Gempeson, Jr., CSSU Region 8 Chief Ms. Abeguil L. Jusay, and representatives of NHA District Offices in Leyte I, Leyte II, Samar I/Northern Samar, and Samar II/Southern Samar. Additionally, six (6) NHA employees who were also victims of the Typhoon received the same assistance.
The beneficiaries expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the NHA employees' acts of kindness and generosity.
In one of their statements, Beneficiaries stated that the donated items would be extremely useful to them and aid them in their recovery from the devastation caused by the Typhoon. (Source: NHA-8)
