TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) officially handed over a project worth Php 624,000 to Barangay Ormocay in Mayorga, Leyte, on Friday, February 4, 2022.
It is under the KALAHI-CIDSS program to support their safety and health information dissemination in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Horn speakers and amplifiers were strategically placed throughout the barangay and at the health station as part of the project.
The horn speakers and amplifiers are part of their Public Address System, which is designed to aid in the faster dissemination of COVID-19-related information activities. It also aims to help with the barangay's safety and health campaigns.
The project also includes medical equipment and tools that will be placed in the barangay health station to ensure that the facility is operational during pandemics and other disaster-related events.
DSWD personnel, including Regional Program Coordinator Leila Auditor and Deputy Regional Program Manager Gerardo Peneda, as well as LGU representatives barangay officials led by Hon. Zosimo Alpino III, and community volunteers, participated in the activity.
Using the Community-Driven Development (CDD) process or strategy, the project was completed with the help of the barangay and local government units and the communities.
The recently completed COVID-19 response project in Barangay Ormocay is the first in Mayorga and Region 8 to be completed this year under the KALAHI-CIDSS Additional Financing. —Tacloban News Update (Source: DSWD Eastern Visayas)
