TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment-North Leyte Field Office (NLFO) provided P499,810 in livelihood assistance to 26 members of the Pope Francis Home Based Workers Association in Palo, Leyte, on February 10, 2022.
Sr. Eugenia S. Sobredilla, In-Charge of Pope Francis Village, expressed heartfelt gratitude to DOLE for granting the association their dream bread and pastry business during a simple handover ceremony.
Aside from baking ingredients such as flour, sugar, oil, and milk, DOLE provided the members with the following tools and equipment: a stainless oven with pressure gauge, a gas tank, a weighing scale, a spiral mixer, a dough roller, a bread slicer, and other auxiliary tools.
OIC-Assistant Regional Director Atty. Cecilio I. Balea, speaking on behalf of Director Henry John S. Jalbuena, encouraged the beneficiaries to succeed in their chosen businesses because the DOLE may grant them additional funding to improve their projects in the future.
“I am encouraging you to be good stewards of this livelihood project because DOLE also provides an enhancement to existing projects if we see that you really deserve it,” Balea said.
Atty. Balea also challenged the beneficiaries to compete for the Best DOLE-Assisted Livelihood in the coming years as they become eligible.
“We really want to see you succeed in your business and be hailed as national winners of the Best DOLE-Assisted project in the future. I hope this will inspire you more”, Baleña added.
Fr. Raymun Sotto, Priest-in-Charge, Ms. Lizet Bagsican, association secretary, Mr. Faustito Aure, Outreach Director of Eastern Visayas State University, and some DOLE-NLFO staff were also present during the activity. —Tacloban News Update (Source: DOLE Region 8)
