TACLOBAN CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 8 has successfully inaugurated modern PUVs in Inopacan, Leyte. Thirteen (13) Forland Modern-PUJ Class 2 units are expected to operate on the Inopacan-Bato & Vice Versa route run by Inopacan Hindang Transport Cooperative (INHITRANSCO).
Vice Mayor Lourdes Villas of Inopacan, Leyte, opened the Launching of the Modern Units with a welcome remark.
As a show of support for the PUV Modernization Inopacan Mayor Azucena Mirambel shared her humble experiences as a commuter herself during her High School years. Mayor Mirambel personally expressed his gratitude to the LTFRB and INHITRANSCO for taking the initiative to assist commuters.
Ms. Maria Kristina Cassion, Executive Director of the LTFRB, expressed her thoughts on how the transportation sector was impacted by the pandemic but assured that it will not be a hindrance to completing the Public Utility Modernization Program. Additionally, she mentioned the fuel subsidy for operators/drivers, which began in the first quarter of this year.
Provisional Authority was presented by the active LTFRB Region 8 Regional Director, Gualberto N. Gualberto, and Executive Director, Ms. Maria Kristina Cassion, and accepted by INHITRANSCO Chairman, Mr. Eric Bermiso, with special guest, Leyte Province Vice Governor Carlo P. Loreto.
