The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region 8 and the Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 inaugurated the new Tacloban City Police Office Building inside the TCPO Headquarters in Tacloban City, Leyte, on Thursday afternoon.
According to DPWH 8 Regional Director Allan S. Borromeo, the newly completed TCPO building is valued at Php 26 million and was funded through the General Appropriations Act 2021 as part of the DPWH-PNP convergence program, also known as Tatag ng Imprastraktura para sa Kapayapaan at Siguridad (TIKAS).
“This project is the first of the two TIKAS projects that have been completed and implemented by DPWH Regional Office 8 in Eastern Visayas for 2021,” said RD Borromeo.
This newly completed three-story structure with a roof deck has a total floor area of 3,289.16 sq.m and will house more than 100 TCPO employees.
The TIKAS program is part of the "Build, Build, Build" Program, which aims to strengthen national security by constructing and improving various infrastructure facilities to strengthen the military's ability to provide service and security.
Meanwhile, PRO 8 Deputy Regional Director for Administration Brigadier General Joel B. Limson expressed gratitude to DPWH for the completion of this project, which will aid police officers in maintaining a culture of good governance.
“We can further perform and deliver high standards of service to the public sa pagpapatuloy ng matuwid na pamamahala," General Limson said.
Meanwhile, Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez stated in his speech that the construction of this TCPO building was strategically located as an effective meeting point, recalling that the previous police office building was the only structure left in the area following the onslaught of super typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) in 2013. —Tacloban News Update (Source: DPWH-8)
