TACLOBAN – Two new public spaces will open this year in the northern part of Tacloban to benefit people in northern barangays, including those living in resettlement areas or 'pabahay.' These are the Tacloban North Memorial Park and Kawayan Park.
Tacloban North Memorial Park will be constructed in order to alleviate the city's graveyard shortage, as the city's oldest cemetery is already at full capacity. The Department of Budget and Management provided the funding for the memorial park (DBM).
Because of weather-related delays, the project's completion date has been pushed back to the month of March.
People in Tacloban, particularly those in the northern barangays and those living in resettlement areas, will benefit from the construction of the new Kawayan Park when it is completed.
According to the Tacloban City Government, Kawayan Park is intended to provide green and open space for recreational activities and is seen as a welcome development in Tacloban's northern part, as envisioned by City Mayor Alfred Romualdez.
These two new public open spaces will be located in Brgy. 101 New Kawayan in Tacloban City. —Tacloban News Update (Source: Tacloban Architect's Office/Information Office)
