The Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU) Ormoc Campus, Ormoc City Government, and the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) - Leyte recently met at the EVSU Ormoc Campus to finalize the floor layout of the University's proposed Food Sustainability Institute.
This is done to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and the requirements for a License to Operate (LTO) issued by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the Philippines.
Following the University's mandate, the facility was designed to be used for instruction, research, community engagement, and the production of innovative food sustainability technologies.
Among its plans is to host some DOST projects involving food processing in the city. The goal is to help boost the agriculture and tourism sectors by developing food products from locally grown raw materials.
During the meeting, it was agreed that a more comprehensive planning workshop would be held between and among the three institutions on the last week of February 2022.
