TACLOBAN CITY – A new fleet of modern public utility vehicles (PUVs) will ply the San Juanico-Tacloban and Cabalawan-Tacloban routes in the city, addressing transportation issues in the city's northern outskirts.
This comes after the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board Eastern Visayas (LTFRB 8) approved the deployment of ten additional modern PUVs by the Cabalawan-Ridgeview Tacloban Cooperative (CARITCO).
CARITCO was granted a provisional authority to operate by LTFRB Regional Director Gualberto N. Gualberto during the launching ceremony in Rizal Park, Tacloban City, on Thursday, March 17.
Tacloban City Administrator Atty. Anacleto Rei "Jojo" Lacanilao III, representing Mayor Alfred S. Romuladez, CDA R8 Director Giovanni Platero, LBP Tacloban Lending Center Head Restituta C. Ilagan, and other key officials were present during the launching.
The launch of the said modern PUVs is part of the PUV Modernization Program.
It is the flagship non-infrastructure project of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte's administration to provide a comfortable life for all Filipinos through a safe, reliable, convenient, affordable, and environmentally sustainable public transportation system in the country. —Tacloban News Update (Source: LTFRB-8)
