TACLOBAN CITY – The Tacloban Local Government Unit, its healthcare workers, and frontliners received two awards at the Department of Health's (DOH) Healthy Pilipinas Awards for Healthy Communities 2022.
Local government units (LGUs) were recognized for launching programs that promote healthy and safe communities throughout the country through a virtual awarding ceremony.
There are two LGU Tacloban programs that have received awards: "New Beginnings" under Priority Area 4: Substance Use, which addresses drug addiction problems in the city, and "Mobile Immunization," which provides small-scale vaccination services to people with special needs and those who live in remote areas under Priority Area 3: Immunization.
The Healthy Pilipinas Awards for Healthy Communities 2022 honor the best practices and initiatives of local government units in terms of health promotion. Every LGU that runs Health Promotion programs have been invited to participate in the Healthy Communities Awards.
Among the categories in which LGUs participated were: Nutrition and Physical Activity, Environmental Health, Routine Immunization, Substance Abuse Prevention, Mental Health, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Road Safety and Injury Prevention. —Tacloban News Update (Source: CIO/DOH)
