The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) – is currently constructing a training pool with a diving board for trainees enrolled in various National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) training courses and specialization programs.
The National Maritime Commission (NMP) is the lead government agency responsible for honing, developing, and upgrading the skills of the country's maritime allied workforce by facilitating quality training, assessment, and research that is responsive to the needs of the maritime industry.
To support the organization's goal of delivering effective maritime studies, DPWH-TCDEO ushered in the construction of a 10m x 20m training pool with a diving board with a maximum depth of 3.4 meters and a minimum depth of 1.2 meters, with a total contract amount of 19.6 million funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act.
The facility aims to meet the need for comprehensive and high-quality training facilities that will meet the training and educational needs of maritime trainees.
The project, which began on October 28, 2021, is already 75 percent complete. (Source: DPWH-TCDEO)
