TACLOBAN CITY – The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board's (LTFRB) Region VIII's Libreng Sakay (free ride) program has been expanded to include the Tacloban-Dagami and Tacloban-Dagami-Guinanora routes.
LTFRB Region VIII announced on Tuesday, April 26, that the Dagami Transport Cooperative has launched the "Libreng Sakay" free-ride program for frontliners such as healthcare workers (HCWs) and Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APORs), with 20 units consisting of traditional and modernized jeepneys traversing the said routes.
Currently, the LTFRB operates additional free ride routes in Tacloban City, particularly for those residing in the city's northern outskirts.
The Service Contracting Program (SCP) is designed to supplement revenue for operators whose revenues were impacted by the pandemic and continued fuel price increases.
"We also want to help our healthcare workers, APORs, and essential workers by providing free ride, as well as efficient, fast, and safe public transportation," LTFRB Region VIII said in a statement. —Tacloban News Updates
