TACLOBAN – Residents of Abuyog, Leyte, especially those in Barangay Pilar, have renewed their appeal for assistance following a landslide.
The Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) in Eastern Visayas said in a statement that 80% of the barangay have been devastated due to the effects of Tropical Depression Agaton on Tuesday, April 13.
According to iTacloban's stringer, a barrio was buried in the mud as a result of a landslide, and they fear that people have been buried also.
Meanwhile, the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Abuyog has appealed to individuals who have boats for assistance in rescuing residents of the said barangay, which is a coastal community that requires crossing the sea.
A medical team is also required, as the remaining survivors are currently staying in a resort in Barangay Malaguicay of the said town.
Other residents in the coastal communities of Abuyog also need help due to continuous downpours of Tropical Depression Agaton.
