TACLOBAN CITY – Personnel from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) Northern Samar, along with the Special Operations Unit and Coast Guard K9, successfully rescued five people from the motorbanca "Crystal Sand," which was found almost submerged in the waters near Dalupiri, San Antonio Island, Northern Samar, due to high waves and rough seas.

According to PCG Northern Samar, Jaime Mondego and his crew sailed from Victoria, Northern Samar, to San Antonio Island on Thursday, June 2, 2022.

While on the move, the motorbanca was slammed by large waves and a strong sea current, leaving it partly submerged.

Upon receiving the distress call onboard the chartered motorbanca, the PCG Station Northern Samar promptly deployed its Search and Rescue (SAR) Team and dragged the half-submerged motorbanca to the nearest shoreline of San Antonio, Northern Samar.

The squad approached the distressed motorbanca, offered required aid, and successfully rescued five people in good physical condition. —iTacloban
