TACLOBAN CITY – On June 6, 2022, 30 informal sector workers from various barangays in Tacloban City received amounting to P635,700.00 in livelihood assistance from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Office No. 8.
Each beneficiary received ten (10) sacks of rice, one weighing scale, and plastic bags from the DOLE North Leyte Field Office (NLFO) for their rice retailing projects approved under the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
Ms. Nilda Calamaya, 66, one of the recipients, expressed her appreciation to DOLE-RO8 for her assistance.
“Maraming salamat po sa DOLE sa malaking tulong na ito. Makakaasa po kayo na pag-bubutihan naming para lumago ito”, Calamaya said.
The simple turnover ceremony was attended by OIC-Asst. Regional Director Atty. Cecilio I. Balea and NLFO Chief Engr. Emmanuel Y. de la Cruz.
Atty. Balea congratulated all of the recipients and stated that it is the DOLE's pleasure to serve the workers of Region 8.
"We are happy to serve you, and we hope these projects will really help all of you in having a sustainable source of income," said Baleña.
Engr. De la Cruz informed that the said livelihood project awarding was only the first batch and that another group of city beneficiaries will receive the same.
NLFO personnel, Ms. Shirley Ann B. Nebrija, and Ms. Leah A. Bidua were also present during the awarding. —iTacloban
