TACLOBAN CITY – The Grand Sangyaw Festival 2022 concluded on Wednesday night, June 29, after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, with the crowning of the Sangyaw Dance Festival Queen and the winner of the street dance competition.
This religious ceremony is being held in homage to Senior Santo Nino de Tacloban prior to the Tacloban fiesta on June 30.
This year's competition was won by the following out of the fifteen contingents that participated:
Minor awards, including "Best in Festival Street Dancing" and "Best in Festival Costume," was given to Brgy. 85 San Jose. They brought home trophies as well as cash prizes totaling 5,000 dollars for each award.

JE Mondejar Computer College was awarded the honor of having the Best Festival Queen Costume, for which they were awarded Php 5,000 in cash and a trophy.
In the competition to determine the Sangyaw Festival Queen, Brgy. 85 San Jose emerged victorious and was awarded Php 50,000. The first runner-up, Brgy. 92 Apitong, was awarded Php 30,000, and the second runner-up, JE Mondejar Computer College, was awarded Php 20,000.
In the meantime, those who had been eliminated from the competition were each awarded a consolation prize of 5,000 pesos. —iTacloban (Source: TCIO)
