TACLOBAN CITY – On Friday, August 26, 2015, fifteen (15) Taclobanons from Batch 16 successfully finished the 29-day training on Organic Agriculture Production NCII they received at Pitahaya Farm School.
In addition to their NCII certificates, the City government gave each graduate a starter kit. These graduates came from a variety of barangays across the city.
The kits, which were personally delivered to the beneficiaries by City Agriculturist Romelo "Melong" Anade, included a sprinkling can, organic fertilizers, a variety of vegetable seeds, and molasses - a necessary ingredient in the production of organic concoctions.
Pitahaya Farm has been a significant arm of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Tacloban in strengthening its greening program, livelihood stability, and food security through organic agriculture. The farm is currently on its 16th batch of graduates.
The continuation of this partnership has increased the number of graduates who are considered to be a promising workforce for the flourishing agricultural programs in the city, particularly in the northern part. —iTacloban (Source: TCIO)
