TACLOBAN CITY – The Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed the construction of a training pool with a diving board on April 21, 2022, for trainees enrolled in various National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) training courses and specialization programs.
The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) is the primary government agency responsible for honing, developing, and upgrading the capabilities of the country's maritime allied workforce, which is accomplished by supporting high-quality training, evaluation, and research that is responsive to the maritime industry's needs.
To meet the need for complete and quality training facilities that would cater to the training and educational needs of maritime trainees, DPWH-TCDEO initiated the construction of a 10m x 20m training pool with a diving board, a maximum depth of 3.4 meters, and a minimum depth of 1.2 meters, with a total contract amount of 19.6 million funded by the 2021 General Appropriations Act.
Furthermore, The National Maritime Polytechnic (NMP) has worked consistently to obtain ISO certifications in accordance with the most recent standards to ensure the delivery of superior training and assessment services as compliant with the ISO 9000:1994 Standards by the Anglo Japanese American (AJA) Registrars Inc.
