TACLOBAN CITY — A total of 780 workers benefited from the P3,417,500 TUPAD wages distributed by the Department of Labor and Employment through its Northern Samar Field Office in Biri and San Antonio municipalities last August 19-20, 2022.
280 beneficiaries from the island municipality of Biri received P3,500.00 each for participating in the 10-day program implementation, while 500 workers from San Antonio received P4,875.00 each for services rendered during the 15-day TUPAD program in their area.
Regional Director Henry John S. Jalbuena led the payout and emphasized the importance of the department's various programs, particularly TUPAD, in his message.
"It is truly inspiring to know that the DOLE's TUPAD program has been instrumental in reaching so many needy workers from all over the country, and we pledge that it will continue," Jalbuena said.
He also urged all employees to be frugal with their money.
"My only request is that you all spend your hard-earned money on something important and necessary," said Director Jalbuena.
Congressman Paul R. Daza, Mayor Amelita B. Delos Reyes of Biri, and Mayor Gary M. Lavin of San Antonio were also present during the wage distribution, all of whom supported the DOLE's TUPAD program.
DOLE-NSFO Director Virgilio A. Doroja, Jr. and Senior Labor and Employment Officer Mark Louie Daza were also present during the two-day payouts.
Aside from their wages, each beneficiary received personal protective equipment and accident insurance coverage before the start of their short-term wage employment. —iTacloban (Source: DOLE Region 8)
