The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the newly constructed local road project in the municipality of Jaro, Leyte. The 1.45-kilometer road infrastructure was built in Barangay Santo Niño by the Leyte Second District Engineering Office.

The road concreting project entails laying 731.33 linear meters of Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP), installing a box culvert, and building an 870-cubic-meter stone masonry leading to Poblacion Barangay 3.

Said project will help the locals in bringing their agricultural produce and livestock to market. Motorists and commuters will no longer have to contend with bumpy and muddy roads when using this road network.

A total of Php 15.31 million has been allocated for the project's construction in the DPWH CY 2022 General Appropriations Act (GAA) under the Basic Infrastructure Program (BIP).

DPWH aims to develop rural infrastructure, particularly access roads, which are critical to rural development because they allow for the rapid flow of goods and transportation, which serves as the foundation for economic development.
