The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) - Biliran District Engineering Office (BDEO) has successfully completed the rehabilitation of the Biliran Bridge, which cost a total of P48.9 million.
According to District Engineer Ferdinand A. Briones, the bridge, which was constructed in 1976, recently underwent significant repairs to ensure the bridge's continued structural integrity and the safety of those who use it.
The aforementioned project involves the refurbishment of the bridge's bearings, repairing the bridge deck, replacing bolts, de-rusting and repainting the bridge girder, and retrofitting the bridge girder with a carbon fiber plate.
According to Briones, a field office was also built under the bridge to house the maintenance crew working on the field.
The project was completed on August 28, 2022, from the start of repair work on February 21, 2022.
Because it is the only land-based connection between the province of Biliran and the rest of Leyte and the rest of the Philippines, the Biliran Bridge is an extremely important structure. (DPWH-BDEO)
