Spark Samar unleashed its beauty and wonders at the Philippines' largest and longest-running travel trade exhibition, the 33rd Philippine Travel Mart, held from September 30 to October 2, 2022, at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The Provincial Government of Samar was one of the exhibitors at Infinite Escapes Eastern Visayas, demonstrating its commitment to raising the profile of local tourist attractions, attracting inbound tourism, and welcoming a more vibrant eco-tourism.
Spark Samar, the brainchild of Governor Sharee Ann Tan, has not only led the way in expanding tourism efforts but has also deeply rooted its vision in achieving community transformation.
"At the time, [the Spark Samar program] was focused more on the destination, but we discovered that we can sell more than just the destination to tourists. We have a century-old Banig weaving tradition. It is extremely beneficial not only to the women weavers but also to our farmers. We are affecting not only tourism but also the agriculture of artisans and farmers." Governor Sharee Ann Tan emphasized.
Governor Tan also stated that they want to position Samar as the next food destination while also preserving the heirloom recipes that have long been available, even during the days of the galleon trade.
To date, the collective dream of preaching Samar's wonders has evolved into more focused goals, fulfilling the promise of peace and progress for all of Samar.
From September 30 to October 2, 2022, witness Samar's wonders and visit the Eastern Visayas at the SMX Convention Center (Halls 1-4).
