2 dead due to diarrhea in Tacloban City

TACLOBAN CITY – The City Health Office (CHO) announced two suspected Cholera deaths in Tacloban City from two barangays (Abucay and San Isidro) during a hybrid press conference held by the City Government on Monday, October 24. 

A 10-month-old baby and another patient died today due to complications related to diarrhea, according to CHO.

Other cases of diarrhea, including vomiting symptoms, have been reported in the following barangays: 106 Santo Nino, 105 San Isidro (Suhi), 91 (Abucay), 39 (Calvary Hill), 79 (Marasbaras), and 107 Santa Elena.


Following that, twenty-four (24) people were admitted to Eastern Visayas Medical Center (EVMC), ten (10) to Tacloban City Hospital (TCH), and an undetermined number of patients to RTR Hospital due to diarrhea and vomiting.

Those who have been admitted are awaiting the results of the confirmatory test.

The City Health Office reminds residents that if they experience tremors, they should go to the health center immediately for medical attention. Meanwhile, Mayor Alfred Romualdez has directed that all water refilling stations and other sources be inspected, particularly in the affected areas. —iTacloban
