TACLOBAN CITY – Tourists can now travel with greater ease now that the Department of Public Works and Highways-Tacloban City District Engineering Office (DPWH-TCDEO) has completed the construction of access roads from Diit-San Roque leading to the declared La Villa Francisco Mountain Resort in Tacloban City.
The road project is in accordance with the Tourism Road Infrastructure Program (TRIP).
It serves to support the convergence program's memorandum of agreement between the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and the Department of Tourism (DOT), which was signed on January 19, 2012, as part of their coordinated effort to open up economic opportunities, particularly for rural communities, by paving roads leading to tourist destinations.
Due to the fact that the aforementioned road leads to La Villa Francisco Mountain Resort, it promotes an increase in the number of tourists and travelers in the city, makes it easier for locals to transport their goods and farm products to commercial areas, and creates new opportunities for economic growth in the surrounding communities.
