TACLOBAN CITY – Eastern Visayas' inflation rate (IR) fell to 6.9 percent in September 2022, down from 7.2 percent in August 2022.
"The regional IR sits at par with the national IR in September 2022. With this month's IR, the region's average IR from January to September 2022 stood at 6.3 percent," according to Philippine Statistics Authority - Eastern Visayas.
The slowdown in regional IR in September 2022 was primarily due to a lower annual increment recorded in the index for Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels, which was 8.6 percent in September 2022, down from 9.9 percent the previous month.
This was followed by the transport index, whose double-digit IR fell to 11.5 percent in September 2022 from 13.5 percent in August 2022. The index for alcoholic beverages and tobacco had a lower IR of 6.8 percent, down from 7.0 percent in August 2022.
