President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. said on Sunday, October 23, that a public-private partnership-style system is needed to help start-ups and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) grow their businesses.
The President suggested during a situation briefing given by the Department of Trade and Industry's Western Visayas regional office. The President was in Bacolod City for the Masskara Festival when he proposed the idea.
Marcos believes that the DTI should create a way for start-ups and small and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) to connect with private lenders and investors to help them keep their businesses and grow them.
According to Marcos, a system should be implemented to create a platform that connects all MSMEs to all information and private companies and entities that can help them with their businesses.
"We should be prepared to go a step further in our support." "There should be a support system to help start-ups and MSMEs by opening doors to new connections, getting them to the digital world, and connecting them with private companies for support," the President stated.
According to Marcos, the DTI should increase its efforts to introduce new businesses to the public so that those interested in joining or supporting the business can do so.
"Make people aware of these businesses, madaming magaganda, so that we can find partners," he said.
In his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), Marcos said that the government would continue to work with all interested parties to protect MSMEs and give them plenty of opportunities. —iTacloban (Source: PND)
