AYO 2022 brought together top international mentors, IP investors, and other industry leaders to share their experiences and expertise with the creative content industry.
The event was held at Waterfront Hotel, Cebu City, on October 7-8, 2022, and was hosted by the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines, Inc. (SIKAP).
SIKAP's flagship event, AYO (a Cebuano term that can mean good, good intentions, or well wishes), is envisioned to become the country's first original creative content market by 2024.
In a special message delivered live via Airmeet, DICT Secretary Ivan John E. Uy expressed his support for Filipino creative content creators:
"We at the DICT are proud to collaborate with SIKAP, or the Creative Content Creators Association of the Philippines, on this flagship project that empowers the country's creative content creators and opens up a variety of opportunities for our local talent to be exposed to the international market." Secretary Uy said.
Emmy Lou V. Delfin, Director of the Department's ICT Industry Development Bureau (IIDB), presented the DICT's support initiatives for the Philippine creative content industry. She emphasized IIDB's EPIC (Empowering, Promoting, and Invigorating the Digital Creative Industry) program, which seeks to promote and sustain the competitiveness of the country's original content creation industry and Filipino original content creators through talent attraction, marketing and promotion, and research.
Director Delfin also stressed the significance of expanding opportunities for the creative industries outside of Metro Manila. "We hope to expand opportunities in the countryside. We hope to have a globally competitive creative industry with the collaboration of the government and the private sector," Director Delfin said.
Participating in the event were DFA Usec. Jesus Domingo, DTI Usec. Rafaelita Aldaba, IPOPhil Director General Rommel Barba, DICT Regional Director Frederick Amores, DTI Regional Director Maria Elena Arbon, SIKAP President Marla D. Rausch, Game Developers Association of the Philippines President James Lo, and Cebu Chamber of Commerce former President Felix T.
