The Tacloban City Government, through the Business Permit & Licensing Division (BPLD) and City Health Office (CHO), began an inspection of the city's water refilling stations today, October 25, in response to an increase in cases of diarrhea with vomiting symptoms.
Checking the overall operation of the refilling stations is part of the official inspection.
BPLD verifies the legality of businesses by reviewing their permits and licenses, including the Mayor's Business Permit and the Sanitary Permit. They plan to include all of the city's refilling stations in the inspection, of which 115 are officially registered with the office.
In addition to combating the outbreak, the Sanitary Inspection Team of the City Health Office (CHO) conducted another operation in which they collected samples from various water sources for testing.
According to City CHO data, the number of probable cases of cholera in Tacloban has increased to six after the patients underwent a rapid diagnostic test.
This week, at least two infected people died as a result of diarrheal complications. —iTacloban (with reports from TCIO)
