TACLOBAN CITY – Tropical Storm Paeng is still affecting the Eastern Visayas Region as it moves west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea. At 4:00 a.m. today, October 28, the tropical storm was last seen 410 kilometers east of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.
With a movement speed of 15 kph, the tropical storm maintains maximum sustained winds of 75 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
PAGASA has issued Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 in the following areas:
LUZON:
Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, and the eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Caramoan, Garchitorena, Presentacion, Lagonoy, Goa, San Jose, Tigaon, Iriga City, Saglay, Buhi)
VISAYAS:
Northern Samar and the northern portion of Eastern Samar (Jipapad, Arteche, Oras, San Policarpo, Maslog, Dolores, Can-Avid, Taft)
While the following places are under TCWS No. 1:
LUZON:
Masbate including Ticao and Burias Islands, Camarines Norte, the rest of Camarines Sur, Romblon, Marinduque, Quezon including Pollilo Islands, Laguna, and Rizal
VISAYAS:
Samar, the rest of Eastern Samar, Biliran, Leyte, Southern Leyte, and the northern portion of Cebu (Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remigio, Tabogon, City of Bogo, Borbon), including Bantayan and Camotes Islands
MINDANAO:
Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands and the northern portion of Surigao del Sur (Carrascal, Cantilan, Madrid, Carmen, Lanuza, Cortes, City of Tandag, Bayabas, Tago, Cagwait)
"Heavy to intense rains, at times torrential, are possible over the Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Samar, and Eastern Samar today and tomorrow early morning. Rainfall in Western Visayas, Marinduque, Romblon, Quezon, and the rest of Eastern Visayas will be moderate to heavy at times. Caraga, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Northern Mindanao, mainland Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Rizal, Laguna, and the rest of Visayas may experience light to moderate rains, with heavy rains possible at times," according to the latest bulletin by the state weather bureau.
"PAENG is expected to move west-northwestward over the Philippine Sea through Sunday, eventually reaching central or southern Luzon. PAENG may make landfall or pass very close to Catanduanes tomorrow morning, based on the forecast track," PAGASA added. —iTacloban
