The graduation ceremony for DigitalJobsPH, which took place on November 4 at LGU Naval in Biliran, was a huge success. It is now possible for a new generation of OFW (Online Filipino Workers) 2.0 Navaleños to launch their careers as freelancers online.
The ceremony was attended by Director Felix S. Tabanao, Jr. (virtually), Engr. Dante Rosales - OIC-Technical Operations Chief, Hazel D. Martinez, Provincial Officer of Biliran Province and Regional Focal of the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau, DJPH Coordinators Engr. Gracely Carson and Glydel Anne Ayes, and the DICT Biliran Team. Ms. Jenn Avila, the DJPH trainer, also attended the face-to-face event.
Mayor Gretchen Espina, the very supportive Local Chief Executive of Naval, and Municipal Livelihood Coordinator, Mr. Jean Sanjorjo, personally congratulated the scholars. Mayor Gretchen plans to hire two scholars. They will join the LGU Naval's Social Media Team.
DICT congratulated the Navaleños who completed the two-month Social Media Marketing Course, which began on August 23, 2022. The intensive in-person training program lasted 12 days and was followed by a 21-day online campaign.
Fortunately, four (4) scholars were recognized as medalists for their outstanding participation in the program; four (4) completers, four (4) certificate of participation, and five (5) certificate of attendance. Graphic design, social media platforms, content creation, video editing, digital marketing, and chatbot marketing were all taught to them.
The DICT is implementing the DJPH program to combat national unemployment and assist more rural Filipinos in finding work in the online freelancing sector. The training's primary goal is to increase participants' employability by emphasizing the development and enhancement of participants' ICT abilities and their application for job opportunities. —iTacloban (Source: DICT-8)
