As Eastern Visayas participates in the 21st Kaon Ta, Kain Pa! Food and Travel Festival, which will be held from December 2 to 4 at the Ayala Abreeza Mall in Davao City, food products from Baybay City and Ormoc City will represent the region.

The three-day culinary event, themed "Food Tripping Christmas," features dishes from Regions 1,5,6,8,9, 10,11,12, and 13, as well as the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and the National Capital Region (NCR) that are sure to be a hit at the Media Noche and Noche Buena tables.

At the culinary and trade event, Eastern Visayas is exhibiting dried Langka, Sweet Potato Ice Cream, Camote Chips, and Alto Peak Chocolate.

Dried Langka, also known as Jackfruit Chips and Baybay Delights, is a sweet, crunchy snack made from dehydrated and vacuum-fried jackfruit. It is high in energy,  vitamins, dietary fiber, and antioxidants and is processed without the use of any artificial preservatives. As a result, it maintains the natural smell, color, and sweetness of a carefully selected variety of jackfruit.

Camote chips from Baybay are made from sweet potato varieties grown organically by local farmers. It is a crunchy, thinly sliced snack and is high in vitamins and fiber. Sweet potato (camote) is a great way for the whole family to get energy and nutrients. It has a lot of beta-carotene, vitamin B6, manganese, potassium, and copper.

Baybay City's sweet potato ice cream is a byproduct of its locally sourced sweet potato from local farmers.

Milk, cream, and sugar are combined to make this sweet potato ice cream. It is also available in four flavors: original, sweet potato-ube, sweet potato-langka, and sweet potato-macapuno.

Meanwhile, Ormoc's Alto Peak Chocolate is a regional pioneer that uses the best cacao beans from local cacao farmers and offers the best and premium quality artisanal chocolates.

At the recent 17th Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines-Department of Tourism (ATOP-DOT) Pearl Awards held in Tagaytay City, Alto Peak Chocolate was recognized as the Grand Winner for the Best Tourism Promotion (Tourism Gifts & Souvenirs—Food Category).

Alto Peak's product lines include dark chocolate bars with varying chocolate percentage concentrations, dark chocolate tidbits, milk chocolate bars, unsweetened tablea, and handmade chocolate bonbons in a variety of ganaches, ranging from imported wines to tropical fruits available in Leyte.

Kaon Ta, Kain Pa's objective is to promote food tourism to establish the nation as a leading culinary destination in the world and offer a stage for the promotion of regional cuisines.
