TACLOBAN CITY – More than 400 children in the Philippines were treated to early Christmas presents and food packs last week, thanks to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Regional Office VIII.
DPWH Regional Director Edgar B. Tabacon led the gift-giving activity, which aimed to bring joy to the children of DPWH employees and revive enthusiasm for Christmas events amid the struggles of the Covid-19 pandemic.
"Christmas is for the children. And Christmas is all about love and giving. It is my hope to bring joy to our children through this simple activity," said RD Tabacon.
The office also went all out with Christmas-themed decorations, which added to the festive atmosphere as the children and employees marveled at the illuminated grounds.
After officially opening the Christmas lights display, RD Tabacon and other DPWH RO8 leaders handed out the gifts to the children.
The gift-giving activity was a heartwarming reminder of the true spirit of Christmas, as people come together to celebrate love and giving despite the past year's challenges. (Source: DPWH-8)
