Globe Telecom, one of the Philippines' largest telecommunications companies, has launched an online platform for SIM card registration. The move follows the release of rules and regulations on SIM registration by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), which will become mandatory on December 27.
All Globe Prepaid, Globe At Home Prepaid WiFi, TM, Globe Mobile WiFi, and Globe Business prepaid subscribers will be required to register their SIMs online at https://new.globe.com.ph/simreg under the new regulations.
Existing Globe Platinum, Globe Business, and Globe postpaid customers will be pre-registered based on the information they provided in their initial application. Users can register through the New GlobeOne app beginning in January.

Customers of Globe and TM will have until April 26, 2023, to register their SIM cards or risk deactivating them. Meanwhile, beginning December 27, new SIM holders will receive deactivated SIMs upon purchase and must register immediately to access Globe services.
Assisted registration sites will also be established by the telecommunications company to help customers who require assistance with the registration process, such as senior citizens, people with disabilities, and pregnant women.
The SIM registration act requires all SIMs to be registered using valid IDs with photos. This measure aims to improve government services, prevent fraudulent SMS activities, and increase financial inclusion by providing proof of identity to the unbanked.
Mandatory SIM registration is vital in the Philippine government's efforts to improve security and prevent fraudulent activities.
Authorities will be able to track and verify the identities of mobile phone users by requiring all SIM card holders to provide valid identification, which will aid in the fight against crimes such as identity theft and cyberbullying.
