TACLOBAN CITY – Tacloban City was abuzz with excitement as hundreds of enthusiastic cyclists hit the road again on Magsaysay Boulevard for the second leg of Romba Tacloban on Saturday, December 10, 2022.
The biking tournament, organized by the Hiraya Foundation in partnership with the Tacloban Cycling Association Inc., Slip Stream Bike Shop, and the local government, featured 13 categories, including road biking and mountain biking for men and women of various age groups.
Roughly 250 bikers from Tacloban City and nearby municipalities participated in the tournament, which tested the participants' speed, stamina, and strategic skills. The winners were recognized for their endurance and talent, receiving trophies, medals, and cash prizes ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 pesos.
Hiraya Foundation president Raymund Romualdez and TCAI president Carlo Romualdez led the awarding ceremony.
Biking has numerous health benefits, including improved cardiovascular fitness, strengthened muscles, and reduced stress and anxiety. It is also an eco-friendly mode of transportation that can help reduce traffic congestion and pollution.
Romba Tacloban aims to promote the sport of biking and encourage more people to join the community of avid cyclists. Said event also wants to raise awareness about the importance of physical activity and environmental conservation.
