TACLOBAN CITY – Residents of Brgy. Baras in Palo, Leyte, were shocked to discover the body of a 16-year-old boy washed up on shore at around 7:10 AM on Wednesday.
According to reports, the victim is a senior high school student who had been swept out to sea and drowned.
The victim's father told the authorities that his son had left their home around 7 pm on Tuesday evening, January 3, following an argument with his girlfriend.
Despite being rushed to the hospital in Palo, the victim was declared dead on arrival.
Officials are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the drowning, but it is believed that strong currents may have played a role in the tragedy.
As a precaution, local authorities are reminding residents to exercise caution when swimming in the sea, particularly during times of rough waves and strong current.
