TACLOBAN CITY—The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) recently participated in the discussion of the Tacloban City’s Master Drainage Plan at the City Engineering Office (CEO) on January 24, 2023.
This meeting was prompted by recent heavy rainfalls in the city that caused significant flooding in several barangays.
Representatives from affected barangays, such as Barangay 62-A and Barangay 62-B, were in attendance, along with TCDEO personnel, including Assistant District Engineer Rebecca G. Yuse, District Planning and Design Chief Margarita C. Bacierra, Engr. John Nichole Bertulfo from Planning and Design Section, and Engr. Elizar Jerome Baclea-an from the Maintenance Section.
During the meeting, the group discussed ways to improve the city’s drainage system, particularly in light of the recent heavy rainfalls.
Assistant District Engineer Rebecca G. Yuse emphasized the goal of both the City Engineering Office and TCDEO in improving the drainage systems of the city, saying, "As Tacloban City has recently been receiving huge torrents of rain, our Master Drainage Plan must also improve to catch up with the needs of our city, particularly on flood control."
